NEWS
UPDATE 5/12/2010 Dear Board
Members, Wrestlers, Coaches, and Parents,
First happy Mothers Day
to all of our wrestlers moms and grandmoms
I hope everyone is
enjoying this warmer weather and getting outdoors, putting thoughts of
snow behind you. Even though the season is over, there are still
plenty of things happening around PAL.
Probably the most important
topic is summer camps available to our wrestlers without traveling.
Chertow’s Gold Medal camp is coming to Hagerstown for the first time
June 29-July 3. Our members are getting a big discount by combining
with North highs wrestlers. The price for commuters is 150.00 or
200.00 with meals included. Eric and Geri Morrow are our lead parents
for this camp. Eric’s phone number is 301-471-1110 and email is, EMorrow@palwrestling.org or Campcoach@palwrestling.org
. The second camp is our own PAL camp and will be held July
12-15 at the clubhouse. Beginners will run 6pm until 7pm, and
Intermediate and advanced wrestlers will go 7pm until 9pm. Mike
McGill, two time Maryland State Champion and former University of
Maryland wrestler will be running our camp again this year. PAL
wrestlers will pay a deposit to sign up, and if they wrestler attends
all sessions the deposit will be returned at the end of the week.
Again these camps are a great opportunity for wrestlers to advance to
the next level of wrestling. The camp will be open to kids from other
teams so it’s a great chance to work out with other
partners.
On Sunday April 25, Mike Palmer, Jeff Henline, and I sat
down with the South High Wrestling coaches to discuss expanding our
practices to that school. We are very excited to able to promote our
sport in the south end of Hagerstown. Next season we will have
additional beginner practices in the South high practice room. Head
Coach Don Rowland, Thomas and Brandon Ashby will be running the
practices. We believe that this will benefit both
programs.
Have fun and be safe, and if you have any questions
please drop me an email or give me a call.
David Slick
