Dear Parents,

          This is our big week of the season.  Time for PAL to shine, as we host the Mason Dixon Division B Qualifier at North High this Sunday. It is a big responsibility to host one of our league tournaments and we want to do a good job for the kids, so we will need lots of help over the next couple of days.  Mike Brull has done a great job getting things in place for this weekend as far as fundraising, sponsorships, setting up vendors, and developing a program.  I would also like to recognize the work that Stacey Myers and Lori Ashby have contributed as well. We are very grateful for their help.   Now its time to start working on the actual running of the tournament, and we will need everyone to pitch in.

All nominations for officers are due and to be handed to Coach Slick.

Everyone jump in to  clean the clubhouse.  Move desk from classroom to stairway.

Bout sheets need to be cut in half.

Regular beginner practice and check weights   6:30-8:30.

Wednesday  March 3, 2010

Advanced practice regular time 6:30-8:30.  Wrestlers take all gear upstairs, do not leave anything in lobby or classroom.

All PAL wrestlers that are competing in the tournament must come to the clubhouse to be weighed in between 6-9pm.  We will also check fingernails and skin checks, so please make sure that our kids have their nails cut.

Beginners practice will be held from 5-630 pm. This is to accommodate the seeding meeting for the tournament on Sunday.  Any coaches or parents interested in attending please see Coach Slick. All wrestlers take your gear upstairs.  Parents are encouraged to be in the practice room from 6pm on.  I will tell a scary story this night so if any child will not do well in this situation, you can leave at 6pm.

Friday night Doug Makosy from LUYAA will be on hand to go over table workers duties with everyone.  I would like everyone who is working at a table to attend this meeting.  Everyone should know what everyone?s else?s  duties are at the table in able to help each other out.  We will also begin to make up bout sheets for Sundays tournament.   We will also be trained on running the scoreboards. This is a team building activity, to help us run a smooth event.   Please try to make arrangements for someone to watch your kids, and try to keep this an adult evening.

Optional practice 9-11am at clubhouse

Set up day.   Everyone arrives at North High at 4:30pm.   Go all the way around the school to the left and please park in the back of the gym. We will ask that you park behind the gym on Sunday as well.  All kids wear their silver and black singlets, coaches wear black shirts.  We will take the team picture as close to 430 as possible.  While the team is getting set up for the team picture, we will hold elections if necessary.  After the team picture individual pictures will be taken.   All parents need to help set up the gym, move and tape down mats, set up tables, set up the cafeteria, etc.  We want everything done when we leave.

Tournament day ? parents will be asked to work the session that your child is not wrestling.    Everyone should be on hand at the end of the day to tear down.  Lots of hands makes this go fast.   This is our event, let?s do ourselves proud.
